Chair VanTassell called the meeting to order at 8:15 a.m.

Approval of Minutes

    MOTION:
Sen. Mayne moved to approve the minutes of the February 19, and 21, 2008     meetings.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Niederhauser absent for the vote.

1.    1st Sub. H.B. 157 Alcoholic Beverage Control Violations Amendments
(C. Oda)

    
Rep. Oda introduced the bill.

    John Freeman, Deputy Director of Operations, Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage     Control, spoke in support of the bill.



    MOTION: Sen. Hickman moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Walker moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously.

2.    S.B. 288 Condominium Ownership Act Amendments (M. Waddoups)

    
Sen. Waddoups introduced the bill and answered questions from the Committee.

     MOTION: Sen. Walker moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Niederhauser absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Hickman moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Niederhauser absent for the vote.

3.    H.B. 257 Employee Verification (C. Herrod)

    
Rep. Herrod introduced the bill.

    Ron Mortenson, citizen, American Legion Post 79, spoke in support of the bill.

    Karen McCreary, Executive Director, American Civil Liberties Union, spoke in opposition to     the bill.

    
MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to pass the bill out favorably.
    
    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Niederhauser absent for the vote.

4.    1st. Sub. H.B. 223 Exemption from Licensure by Division of Real Estate (M. Walker)

    Rep. Walker introduced the bill.

    Carl Hendrickson, Legal Counsel, Salt Lake County, spoke in support of the bill.





     MOTION: Sen. Hickman moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Niederhauser absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Walker moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Niederhauser absent for the vote.
