Sen. Dayton called the meeting to order at the designated time of 7:53 am. Due to problems with the speaker system, the meeting was delayed. The meeting resumed at 8:10 am.
1. S.B.0061 Financial Literacy Education
Sen. Jones distributed and presented Amendment 1 to S. B. 0061.
MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to adopt the following amendment:
1. Page 3, Lines 64 through 66 :
64 complete the financial literacy passport, including incentives offered by community partners;
65 (b) more fully integrate
existing and new
financial literacy education into
instruction in kindergarten
66 through twelfth grade by:
2. Page 3, Lines 76 through 80 :
76 education and, if necessary, developing assessments;

Sens. Stephenson and Romero had questions about the bill.
Sarah Meyer, Jeff Picketts and Sherrie Davis spoke in favor of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Stephenson moved to send S. B. 0061 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Bramble absent for the vote.
2. S.B. 0103 Higher Education Enhancements (D. Stowell)
Sen. Stowell presented and explained the bill.
Dave Buhler, Michael Kennedy, Wes Curtis, Val Peterson, Cynthia Bioteau, Kevin Walthers, Brad Mortensen, Peter McChesney and Scott Wyatt spoke in favor of the bill.
Sens. Romero, Stowell, Dayton and Bell had questions concerning the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Bell moved to send S. B. 0103 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Bramble absent for the vote.
3. SCR002 Resolution Promoting Legislators Back to School Program (M. Dayton)
Sen. Dayton presented and explained SCR002 .
Shelley Day spoke about the program.
Sen. Jones spoke in favor of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Dayton moved to send SCR002 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously.
4. S.B.0037 Home School and Extra Curricular Activities Amendments (M. Madsen)
Sen. Madsen distributed and presented Amendment 1 to S.B.0037.
MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to adopt the following amendment:
1. Page 6, Lines 158 through 159 :
158 (iii) enrolls in a private school and establishes academic eligibility.
(i) A public school student who has been declared to be ineligible to participate in an extracurricular activity for a reason other than academics and who subsequently enrolls in a home school may not regain eligibility until the student resolves the reason for ineligibility and conforms to the eligibility standards applicable to fully enrolled public school students.

The motion passed with Sens. Dayton, Bramble, Hillyard, Peterson, and Stephenson voting aye, and Sens. Bell, Jones and Romero voting no.
MOTION: Sen. Peterson moved to adjourn
The motion passed unanimously.
