Committee Chair Buttars called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.

1.     H.B. 131S3 Community Based Self Sufficiency Grants (Rep. J. Seelig)

    Rep. Seelig explained the bill.

    Isabel Rojas, Coordinator, Comunidades Unidas, Multi-Cultural Health Network, and Robert Kaghoo, Volunteer, Multi-Cultural Health Network, spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously.

2.     S.B. 255 Hospital Lien (D. Peterson)

    The sponsor requested that the committee either hold the bill or send it back to the Rules Committee.
    
     MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved that the committee go to the next item on the agenda.

    The motion passed unanimously.


3.     H.B. 307 Cancer Screening and Mortality Reduction Special Group License Plate (Rep. C. Moss)

    Rep. Moss explained the bill.

    The following spoke in support of the bill:

            Michael Syler, American Cancer Society
            Deborah Turner, Utah Department of Health

    Rod Marrelli, Executive Director, State Tax Commission, recommended that the Legislature review its policy on special group license plates.

    MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed with Sen. Christensen voting in opposition.

MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to adjourn.

Committee Chair Butters adjourned the meeting at 9:35 a.m.
