Chair Bell called the meeting to order at 2:05 pm.
1. S.B. 157 Rights of Citizens to Carry Firearms in Declared Emergency (M. Madsen)
Sen. Madsen explained that a substitute bill was being drafted. The bill was held in committee.
2. S.B. 139 Utah Antitrust Act Amendments (L. Hillyard)
Sen. Hillyard presented the bill and introduced Ron Oakey, Assistant Utah Attorney General, who explained the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to send S.B. 139 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. McCoy absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to place S.B. 139 on the consent calendar.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. McCoy absent for the vote.
3. H.B. 30 Vehicle concealing Illegal Items (P. Ray)
Rep. Ray presented and explained the bill, and distributed a handout to the committee.
Gerald Jensen, Assistant Attorney General, Utah Attorney General, spoke in favor of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to send H.B. 30 out of the committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.
4. H.B. 18 S01 Material Harmful to Minors Amendments (P. Ray)
Rep. Ray presented and explained the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to send 1st Sub. H.B. 18 out of the committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Hillyard and McCoy absent for the vote.
5. Approval of Minutes
MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to approve the minutes of January 29, 2008.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.
6. H.B. 11 Parole Amendments (C. Oda)
Rep. Oda presented and explained the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to send H.B. 11 out of the committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to place H.B. 11 on the consent calendar.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.
7. H.B. 272 False Impersonation and Representation (G. Froerer)
Rep. Froerer presented and explained the bill. After discussion, it was decided to hold the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Romero moved to adjourn.
