Acting Chair Stowell called the meeting to order at

MOTION: Sen. Fife moved to approve minutes of the Wednesday, February 6, 2008, meeting.

The motion passed unanimously.

1.     1st Substitute H. B. 135 , Grants from Department of Community and Culture, by Rep. Allen

    Rep. Allen explained 1st Substitute H. B. 135 to the committee. Questions and comments were heard from Sens. Jones, Fife and Stowell and Rep. Allen. Bill Rigby, Utah Conservation District; Shirley Ririe, Utah Arts Council Board of Directors; and Ally Isom, Deputy Director, Department of Community & Culture, spoke in favor of the bill.

     MOTION: Rep. Jones moved to send 1st Substitute H. B. 135 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.


2.     H. J. R. 1, Resolution Addressing International Trade Issues, by Rep. Allen

    Rep. Allen explained H. J. R. 1 to the committee.

     MOTION: Sen. Fife moved to send H. J. R. 1 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to place H. J. R. 1 on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously.

3.     H. B. 259, Gold Star Family Special Group License Plate Amendments, by Rep Oda

    Rep. Oda explained H. B. 259 to the committee. Questions and comments were heard from Sen. Stowell and Rep. Oda.

     MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to send H. B. 259 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to place H. B. 259 on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously.
