             8      LONG TITLE
             9      General Description:
             10          This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor honors Don Peay for his
             11      professional and personal contributions to conserving the state's natural resources.
             12      Highlighted Provisions:
             13          This resolution:
             14          .    honors Don Peay for his professional and personal contributions to conserving the
             15      state's natural resources, including habitat restoration and watershed and stream
             16      bed improvements, for the benefit of the environment, the health of the state's
             17      resources, and increased capacity for quality recreation.
             18      Special Clauses:
             19          None
             20     
             21      Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
             22          WHEREAS, the state of Utah considers the conservation and wise use of its natural
             23      resources to be a high priority;
             24          WHEREAS, the enjoyment and beauty of our wildlife is greatly appreciated by the
             25      citizens of the state;
             26          WHEREAS, Utah has made tremendous advances in the number and quality of
             27      wildlife;
             28          WHEREAS, Utah is considered the premier hunting location for trophy animals and
             29      quality hunting;


             30          WHEREAS, the state is making significant progress in habitat restoration, watershed
             31      improvements, and stream bed improvements;
             32          WHEREAS, these improvements are for the benefit of the environment, for the health
             33      of the state's resources, and for creating additional capacity for quality recreation;
             34          WHEREAS, Don Peay has been a leader in this effort for more than a decade, from the
             35      development of the current wildlife policy process to the state's many conservation
             36      improvement projects;
             37          WHEREAS, Don Peay's leadership in this area helped establish the Sportsmen for Fish
             38      and Wildlife, the principle private organization that creates the financial investment that
             39      allows these important conservation projects to occur;
             40          WHEREAS, Don Peay's leadership has developed a "can do" and market approach that
             41      is sustainable and extremely successful;
             42          WHEREAS, Don Peay envisioned and brought about the annual Western Hunting and
             43      Conservation Expo in Salt Lake City;
             44          WHEREAS, Don Peay was listed in Outdoor Life Magazine as one of 25 people in
             45      America who had the most impact on conservation efforts in America;
             46          WHEREAS, Don Peay is a caring and patriotic individual as shown by his leadership
             47      to the veterans in this state and to children in need as demonstrated by the donation of special
             48      veteran hunting opportunities and support to the Primary Children's Hospital; and
             49          WHEREAS, the celebrations and official designations and proclamations of a state
             50      should reflect the traditions, values, and appreciation of its people:
             51          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
             52      Governor concurring therein, honor a great citizen of the state, Don Peay, for his tremendous
             53      professional and personal contributions to conserving the state's natural resources, including
             54      habitat restoration and watershed and stream bed improvements for the benefit of the
             55      environment, the health of the state's resources, and increased capacity for quality recreation.
             56          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to Don Peay.
