Rep. Ray called the meeting to order at 2:06 p.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Daw moved to approve the minutes of the February 13, 2009 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.


H.B. 288    Adoption Amendments (Rep. R. Chavez-Houck)

Rep. Chavez-Houck explained the bill, assisted by Lauren Barros, family law attorney. Robert Bussen, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Park City, Kathy Godwin, and Gregg Valdez also assisted and spoke in favor of the bill.

SUBSTITUTE
MOTION:    Rep. Riesen moved to pass H.B. 288 with a favorable recommendation. The motion failed with Rep. Riesen voting in favor of the motion.

The original motion to table H.B. 288 passed with Rep. Riesen voting in opposition to the motion.

Rep. Ray relinquished the chair to Rep. Menlove.

S.B. 158    Child Support - Cash Medical Support (Sen. G. Bell)

Sen. Bell explained the bill to the committee, assisted by Tracy Graham, Office of Recovery Services.

MOTION:    Rep. Daw moved to pass S.B. 158 with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Ray absent for the vote.

S.J.R. 7    Joint Resolution Designating May 2009 as Utah Lions Club Eyesight Preservation Month (Sen. K. Mayne)


Sen. Mayne explained the resolution to the committee.

MOTION:    Rep. Vickers moved to pass S.J.R. 7 with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Ray absent for the vote.

S.B. 20    Local Public Health Emergency Funding (Sen. D. Stowell)

This bill was not heard.

H.B. 142    Reporting Abuse or Neglect of the Elderly or Disabled (Rep. L. Hemingway)


This bill was not heard.

MOTION:    Rep. Daw moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Ray absent for the vote.

Rep. Menlove adjourned the meeting at 3:55 p.m.
