Rep. Froerer called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m.
MOTION: Rep. Fisher moved to approve the amended minutes of the February 12, 2009 meeting and the minutes of the February 25, 2009 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Sandstrom and Rep. Seelig absent for the vote.
1st Sub. S.B. 132 Individual Income Tax Contribution for Methamphetamine Housing Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Fund (Sen. K. Mayne) (Rep. J. Seelig)
Sen. Mayne introduced the bill and explained it to the committee assisted by Ed Blake, Board President, Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity, who distributed a handout.
MOTION: Rep. Dougall moved to amend 1st Sub. S.B. 132 as follows:
1. Page 1, Line 22: After "for" delete "the" and insert "a"
2. Page 1, Line 23: Delete "2009" and insert "2010"
3. Page 7, Line 187: After "for" delete "the" and insert "a"
4. Page 7, Line 188: Delete "2009" and insert "2010"
The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Hutchings and Rep. Sandstrom absent for the vote.
MOTION: Rep. Dougall moved to transmit 1st Substitute S.B. 132 as amended with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Newbold and Rep. Sandstrom absent for the vote.
S.B. 59 Allocation and Apportionment of Income and Deduction of a Net Loss (Sen. H. Stephenson) (Rep. W. Harper)
Sen. Stephenson introduced the bill, explained it to the committee, and had a handout distributed. Bruce Johnson, Utah State Tax Commission, spoke to the bill. Royce Van Tassell, Utah Taxpayers Association, spoke in favor of the bill.
MOTION: Rep. Harper moved to transmit S.B. 59 with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed with Rep. Allen, Rep. Cosgrove, Rep. Duckworth, and Rep. Moss voting in opposition and Rep. Seelig absent for the vote.
MOTION: Rep. Johnson moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Seelig absent for the vote.
Rep. Froerer adjourned the meeting at 5:03 p.m.
