Chair Brown called the meeting to order at 12:23 pm.

HB0211    Divestment of Certain Retirement Investments (Rep. Julie Fisher)

MOTION:
    Representative Newbold moved to delete H.B. 211 and replace it with 1st Substitute H.B. 211. The motion passed unanimously with Representatives Hansen, and Harper absent for the vote.

Representative Fisher introduced the substitute bill, indicated the difference between the original and the substitute, and explained its intent. Representative Fisher was assisted in her presentation by Greg Smith, and Joel Hood, Brigham Young University students. Dan Andersen, Legal Counsel, Utah Retirement Systems, commented on the bill.

MOTION:    Representative Daw moved to pass out favorably 1st Substitute H.B. 211. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Hansen absent for the vote.

HB0167    County Hospital Retirement Provisions (Rep. M. Noel)
    
Representative Noel introduced the bill and explained its intent.


Dan Andersen, Legal Counsel, Utah Retirement Systems, answered questions from the committee. LeGrand Bitter, Executive Director, Utah Association of Special Districts, spoke in favor of the bill.

MOTION:    Representative Watkins moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Representative Harper moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.

Chairman Brown turned the chair to Vice Chair Sandstrom at 12:58 pm.

SB0127    Retirement Amendments (Sen. D. Liljenquist)

Representative Brown introduced the bill for Senator Liljenquist. He was assisted in the presentation by Dan Andersen, Legal Counsel, Utah Retirement Systems.

MOTION:    Representative Brown moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Representative Daw moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.

Vice Chair Sandstrom called for a motion to adjourn.

MOTION:    Representative Newbold moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 1:03 pm.
