Chair Valentine called the meeting to order at 8:39 a.m.
Approval of Minutes
Sen. Valentine stated there are minutes from February 3rd and February 6th that have been submitted for approval.
MOTION: Sen. Davis moved that the minutes of February 3rd and February 6th
be approved.
The motion passed unanimously with a vote of 6 - 0. Sen. Mayne was absent for the vote.
Sen. Valentine indicated the sponsors of SB 163 (S. Urquhart) and HB 51 (C. Johnson) have requested the bills be held over until the next meeting.
1. HB0085 Mutual Benefit Corporation - Judicial Liens (P. Painter)
Rep. Painter presented the bill.
Todd Bingham, UFB, spoke for the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Niederhauser moved that the bill be passed out favorably.
Sen. Valentine declared a conflict of interest. The bill passed with a vote of 6 - 0. Sen. Mayne was absent for the vote.
2. HB0167 Amendments to Uniform Debt-Management Services Act (L. Hillyard)
The bill was presented by Rep. Hillyard.
Kevin Olsen, Division of Consumer Protection, spoke for the bill.
Brian Allen, Hope Financial, spoke for the bill.
Gary Thorup, Association of Debt Settlement Companies, spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with a 6 - 0 vote. Sen. Mayne was absent for the vote.
3. Rental Restrictions on Condominiums and Common Interest Communities
(G. Froerer)
In Rep. Froerer's absence, Sen. Urquhart requested this bill be held until the next meeting.
4. HB0266 Wrongful Lien Amendments (G. Froerer)
In Rep. Froerer's absence, Sen. Urquhart presented the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Urquhart moved the bill be passed out favorably.
The motion passed with a vote of 7 - 0.
MOTION: Sen. Davis moved the meeting be adjourned.
The motion passed unanimously with a vote of 6 - 0. Sen. Liljenquist was absent for the vote.
Chair Valentine adjourned the meeting at 9:05 a.m.
