POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS STANDING COMMITTEE

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28, 2009

Committee Chair Knudson called the meeting to order at 8:45 a.m.



1.      SB0093 Building Authorities (D. Stowell)
    
    Sen. Stowell explained this bill is a technical change.

     MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed 5 - 0 - 2 with Senators Jenkins and McCoy absent for the vote.

2.    SJR002 Topaz Museum and Civil Liberties Learning Center Joint Resolution
    
(D. Stowell)

    Sen. Stowell explained the bill. He introduced Richard Okaba and asked that he          provide additional information on the bill.     



    

    The following individuals spoke in support of the bill:

    Richard Okaba, Topaz Museum Board
    Lee Phipps, Citizen of Box Elder County
    Darren Emir

     MOTION: Sen. Knudson moved to pass the favorably.

    Sen. Stowell summarized the bill and answered financing questions.

    The bill passed favorably 5 - 0 - 2.

     MOTION: Sen. Robles moved that SB0093 and SJR002 be placed on the Consent     Calendar.

    The motion was pass favorably 5 - 0 - 2.

3.    SB0088 Administrative Rulemaking Act Amendment (H Stephenson)

    The bill was over viewed by Sen. Jenkins in Sen. Stevensons absence.

     MOTION: Sen. Jenkins moved that the bill be passed favorably.

    Sen. Stephenson arrived and spoke to the bill.

    The motion was passed unanimously 7 - 0 -0.

    MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to adjourn.

    Committee Chair Knudson adjourned the meeting at 9:45 a.m.
