Chair Niederhauser called the meeting to order at 8:40 a.m.
Approval of Minutes
MOTION: Sen. Valentine moved to approve the minutes of 2/20/2009.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Bramble, Romero, and Stephenson absent for the vote.
1. S.B. 65 _ Amendments to Property Tax Notice, Public Hearing, and Resolution Provisions
Sen. Stowell presented and explained this bill.
Mr. Van Tassell and Mr. Mortensen spoke in favor of the bill. Mr. Bitter and Mr. Johnson spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Valentine moved to adopt S.B. 65 with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Romero absent for the vote.
2. SB 47 _ Grant in Lieu of Property Taxes
MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to delete in title and body S.B. 47 and replace it with 1st Substitute S.B. 47.
The motion passed unanimously.
S.B. 47 S01 _ County Regional Facilities Property Tax
Sen. Gene Davis presented and explained this bill.
Mr. Carlson and Mr. Barth spoke in favor of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to adopt S.B. 47 S01 with a favorable recommendation.
The motion failed with Sens. Goodfellow and Stowell voting in favor of the motion; Sens. Stephenson, Bramble, Valentine, and Niederhauser voting against the motion; and with Sen. Romero absent for the vote.
Chair Niederhauser relinquished the chair to Sen. Valentine
3. S.B. 189 _ Amendments to Sales and Use Tax
Sen. Niederhauser presented and explained this bill.
Mr. Johnson spoke to this bill.
MOTION: Sen. Stephenson moved to adopt S.B. 189 with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Romero absent for the vote.
4. S.B. 190 _ Acquisitions of a Billboard by Eminent Domain
Sen. Niederhauser presented and explained this bill.
Mr. Pace spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to adopt S.B. 190 with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Romero absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Stowell moved to adjourn.
Chair Niederhauser adjourned the meeting at 10:00 a.m.
