Committee Chair Urquhart called the meeting to order at 2:18 p.m.

Approval of Minutes


    MOTION:
Sen. Van Tassell moved to approve the minutes of February 13, 2009, meeting.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Goodfellow and Killpack absent for the vote.

1.    SB0076, Energy Amendments (C. Bramble)

    S.B. 76, Energy Amendments, was not considered.

2.    SJR016, Joint Resolution Supporting Nuclear Power (D. Hinkins)

    Sen. Hinkins introduced the bill.

    Mr. Tilton, Mr. Hartley, and Mr. Sandquist spoke for the bill. Mr. Boardman and Mr. O'Neal spoke to the bill. Mr. Thomas, Ms. Geddes, Mr. Firmage, Ms. Nava, Mr. Mielke, Ms. Hartz, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Cowley, Ms. Hansen, Ms. Corth, Ms. Huff and Mr. Mullins spoke against the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Hinkins moved to replace S.J.R. 16, Joint Resolution Supporting Nuclear Power, with 1st Sub. S.J.R. 16, Joint Resolution Supporting Nuclear Power.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Killpack absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Killpack moved to pass 1st Sub. S.J.R.16, Joint Resolution Supporting Nuclear Power, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sens. Van Tassell and Goodfellow voting nay and Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.

3.    HB0253, Motor Carrier Permit Fee Amendments (T. Kiser)

    Sen. Van Tassell introduced the bill.

    Ms. Hull and Mr. Creer spoke for the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to pass H.B. 253, Motor Carrier Permit Fee Amendments, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sens. Killpack and Mayne absent for the vote.

4.    HB0102, False Vehicle Title and Registration Penalties (P. Ray)

    Rep. Ray introduced the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Van Tassell moved to amend H.B. 102, False Vehicle Title and Registration Penalties, as follows:

     MOTION: Sen. Hinkins moved to place H.B. 102, False Vehicle Title and Registration Penalties, as amended, on the consent calendar.

5.    HB0104, Driver License Hearing Amendments (R. Greenwood)

    Rep. Greenwood introduced the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Knudson moved to pass H.B. 104, Driver License Hearing Amendments, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sen. Killpack absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Hinkins moved to place H.B. 104, Driver License Hearing Amendments, on the consent calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Killpack absent for the vote.

6.    HB0278, B and C Roads Fund Amendments (M. Noel)



    Rep. Noel introduced the bill.

    Mr. Ward and Mr. O'Neal spoke for the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Van Tassell moved to pass H.B. 278, B and C Roads Fund Amendments, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sen. Goodfellow voting nay and Sen. Killpack absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Knudson moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Killpack absent for the vote.

    Sen Urquhart adjourned the meeting at 4:25 p.m.
