             9      LONG TITLE
             10      General Description:
             11          This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor designates April 2010,
             12      as Utah Printing and Graphic Arts Recognition Month.
             13      Highlighted Provisions:
             14          This resolution:
             15          .    designates the month of April 2010, as Printing and Graphic Arts Recognition
             16      Month in the state of Utah;
             17          .    recognizes the many contributions made by the printing and graphic arts industries
             18      to the history and development of the state of Utah; and
             19          .    encourages institutions of learning, communities, and all individuals who benefit
             20      from the use of the printing and graphic arts professions to learn more of their value
             21      to Utah's culture and history.
             22      Special Clauses:
             23          None
             24     
             25      Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
             26          WHEREAS, the printing and graphic arts industries have played an integral role in the
             27      history and development of Utah and of society, and continue to be the vital arts of
             28      preservation of all arts and information dissemination in the world today;
             29          WHEREAS, the printing and graphic arts production industries are the source for


             30      educational advancement, literacy, and the preservation of the heritage of Utah, the nation,
             31      and the world;
             32          WHEREAS, the printing and graphic arts industries have made possible books,
             33      magazines, and newspapers;
             34          WHEREAS, in today's world, the printing and graphic arts production industries have
             35      also made possible all forms of digital media, which enable people in one part of the world to
             36      be understood by others, bringing them closer together;
             37          WHEREAS, the printing and graphic arts production industries enable individuals to
             38      hand down to future generations accurate and trustworthy accounts of society's activities;
             39          WHEREAS, those who are engaged in the work of printing or the preservation of these
             40      accounts are rendering an important service to the communities in which they live;
             41          WHEREAS, the freedom of speech and of the press are vital to the preservation of the
             42      freedoms and liberties enjoyed in our form of government and society;
             43          WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the state of Utah join in recognizing the
             44      contributions of the many individuals who dedicate their lives, through the printing and
             45      graphic arts industries, to the history and development of the state and in honoring their
             46      accomplishments; and
             47          WHEREAS, the Utah Printers Hall of Fame Annual Recognition events occur in the
             48      month of April:
             49          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
             50      Governor concurring therein, designate the month of April 2010, as Utah Printing and Graphic
             51      Arts Recognition Month in the state of Utah.
             52          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor recognize the
             53      many contributions made by the printing and graphic arts industries to the history and
             54      development of the state of Utah.
             55          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor encourage the
             56      citizens of Utah who benefit from the use of the printing and graphic arts professions to learn
             57      more of their value to Utah's culture and history.


             58          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Printing
             59      Industries of Utah and to the Utah Printers Hall of Fame at the Louis E. Crandall Historical
             60      Printing Museum.
