             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor strongly urges the State
             10      Board of Regents to study and review certain workforce needs in Northern Utah and to
             11      report its findings to the Legislature and the Governor.
             12      Highlighted Provisions:
             13          This resolution:
             14          .    strongly urges the State Board of Regents to study the workforce needs associated
             15      with the future expansion and support of Hill Air Force Base, the Falcon Hill
             16      Enhanced Use Lease Agreement, and the Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research
             17      Park;
             18          .    strongly urges the State Board of Regents to review, in collaboration with the
             19      Aerospace Cluster Acceleration Project, the economic and workforce needs of
             20      Weber and Davis Counties;
             21          .    strongly urges the State Board of Regents to consider academic programs to meet
             22      the economic development and workforce needs in Weber and Davis Counties,
             23      including Weber State University's proposed Bachelor of Science in Electronics
             24      Engineering, in accordance with Section 53B-16-102 , Utah Code Annotated, and
             25      board policy;
             26          .    strongly urges the State Board of Regents to report its findings and actions to the
             27      Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, and the
             28      Governor by no later than October 31, 2010, including the status of Weber State
             29      University's application for a proposed Bachelor of Science in Electronics


             30      Engineering; and
             31          .    urges the State Board of Regents to also report its findings and actions to the
             32      Legislature's Education Interim Committee by the October 2010 Interim meeting,
             33      including the status of Weber State University's application for a proposed
             34      Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering.
             35      Special Clauses:
             36          None

             38      Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
             39          WHEREAS, the State Board of Regents has recognized the need for further study
             40      related to the workforce needs of Northern Utah;
             41          WHEREAS, the items in need of study by the State Board of Regents include the
             42      workforce needs associated with the future expansion of and support of Hill Air Force Base,
             43      the Falcon Hill Enhanced Use Lease Agreement, and the Falcon Hill National Aerospace
             44      Research Park;
             45          WHEREAS, the State Board of Regents should also review, in collaboration with the
             46      Aerospace Cluster Acceleration Project, the economic and workforce needs in Weber and
             47      Davis Counties;
             48          WHEREAS, the State Board of Regents should also consider academic programs to
             49      meet the economic development and workforce needs in Davis and Weber Counties, including
             50      Weber State University's proposed Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering, in
             51      accordance with Section 53B-16-102 , Utah Code Annotated, and board policy;
             52          WHEREAS, the State Board of Regents should report its findings and actions to the
             53      Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, and the Governor by no
             54      later than October 31, 2010, including the status of Weber State University's application for a
             55      proposed Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering; and
             56          WHEREAS, the State Board of Regents should also report its findings and actions to
             57      the Legislature's Education Interim Committee by the October 2010 Interim meeting,


             58      including the status of Weber State University's application for a proposed Bachelor of
             59      Science in Electronics Engineering:
             60          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
             61      Governor concurring therein, strongly urge the State Board of Regents to study the workforce
             62      needs associated with the future expansion and support of Hill Air Force Base, the Falcon Hill
             63      Enhanced Use Lease Agreement, and the Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research Park.
             64          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor strongly urge the
             65      State Board of Regents to review, in collaboration with the Aerospace Cluster Acceleration
             66      Project, the economic and workforce needs of Weber and Davis Counties.
             67          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor strongly urge the
             68      State Board of Regents to consider academic programs to meet the economic development and
             69      workforce needs in Davis and Weber Counties, including Weber State University's proposed
             70      Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering, in accordance with Section 53B-16-102 , Utah
             71      Code Annotated, and board policy.
             72          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor urge the State
             73      Board of Regents to report its findings and actions to the Speaker of the House of
             74      Representatives, the President of the Senate, and the Governor by no later than October 31,
             75      2010, including the status of Weber State University's application for a proposed Bachelor of
             76      Science in Electronics Engineering.
             77          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor urge the State
             78      Board of Regents to also report its findings and actions to the Legislature's Education Interim
             79      Committee by the October 2010 Interim meeting, including the status of Weber State
             80      University's application for a proposed Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering.
             81          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the State Board
             82      of Regents, Hill Air Force Base, the Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research Park, the
             83      Aerospace Cluster Acceleration Project, Weber State University, the Davis County
             84      Commission, and the Weber County Commission.
