             8      General Description:
             9          This bill modifies provisions related to compensation for state constitutional officers.
             10      Highlighted Provisions:
             11          This bill:
             12          .    amends the salary of the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and the
             13      state treasurer; and
             14          .    make technical changes.
             15      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
             16          None
             17      Other Special Clauses:
             18          This bill takes effect on July 1, 2010.
             19      Utah Code Sections Affected:
             20      AMENDS:
             21          67-22-1, as last amended by Laws of Utah 2008, Chapter 86

             23      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             24          Section 1. Section 67-22-1 is amended to read:
             25           67-22-1. Compensation -- Constitutional offices.
             26          (1) The Legislature fixes salaries for the constitutional offices as follows:
             27          (a) governor:                [$109,900] $98,910;


             28          (b) lieutenant governor:        95% of the governor's salary;
             29          (c) attorney general:            95% of the governor's salary;
             30          (d) state auditor:            95% of the governor's salary [beginning]     
             31                              [June 28, 2008]; and
             32          (e) state treasurer:            95% of the governor's salary.
             33          (2) The Legislature fixes benefits for the constitutional offices as follows:
             34          (a) Governor:
             35          (i) a vehicle for official and personal use;
             36          (ii) housing;
             37          (iii) household and security staff;
             38          (iv) household expenses;
             39          (v) retirement benefits as provided in Title 49, Utah State Retirement and Insurance
             40      Benefit Act;
             41          (vi) health insurance;
             42          (vii) dental insurance;
             43          (viii) basic life insurance;
             44          (ix) workers' compensation;
             45          (x) required employer contribution to Social Security;
             46          (xi) long-term disability income insurance; and
             47          (xii) the same additional state paid life insurance available to other noncareer service
             48      employees.
             49          (b) Lieutenant governor, attorney general, state auditor, and state treasurer:
             50          (i) a vehicle for official and personal use;
             51          (ii) the option of participating in a state retirement system established by Title 49,
             52      Chapter 12, Public Employees' Contributory Retirement Act, or Chapter 13, Public Employees'
             53      Noncontributory Retirement Act, or in a deferred compensation plan administered by the State
             54      Retirement Office, in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code and its accompanying rules
             55      and regulations;
             56          (iii) health insurance;
             57          (iv) dental insurance;
             58          (v) basic life insurance;


             59          (vi) workers' compensation;
             60          (vii) required employer contribution to Social Security;
             61          (viii) long-term disability income insurance; and
             62          (ix) the same additional state paid life insurance available to other noncareer service
             63      employees.
             64          (c) Each constitutional office shall pay the cost of the additional state-paid life
             65      insurance for its constitutional officer from its existing budget.
             66          Section 2. Effective date.
             67          This bill takes effect on July 1, 2010.
