Rep. Menlove called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Daw moved to approve the minutes of the January 29, 2010 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Beck, Rep. Sandstrom, and Rep. Ray absent for the vote.


H.B. 239    Child Protection Revisions (Rep. W. Harper)

Rep. Harper explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:    Rep. Daw moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 7, Lines 196 through 198 :

H.B. 71S1    Nicotine Product Restrictions (Rep. P. Ray)


Rep. Ray explained 1st Substitute H.B. 71 bill to the committee. 2nd Substitute H.B. 71 and a proposed amendment were presented for the committee to discuss.

MOTION:    Rep. Daw moved to adopt 2nd Substitute H.B. 71. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Rep. Daw moved to pass 2nd Substitute H.B. 71 with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed with Rep. Riesen voting in opposition to the motion.


H.B. 232    Medical Language Interpreter Amendments (Rep. R. Chavez-Houck)

MOTION:    Rep. Riesen moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 7, Lines 205 through 207 :    

             205          (10) conviction of a felony or any other crime which is considered by the
{   board   }        division       to

             206      represent activity detrimental to the public interest as that interest is reflected in the person
             207      continuing to practice as a certified medical language interpreter.

The motion to amend the bill passed unanimously.

Rep. Chavez-Houck explained the bill to the committee. A handout explaining the bill was provided.

H.B. 67    Health System Amendments (Rep. C. Wimmer)

MOTION:    Rep. Ray moved to adopt 1st Substitute H.B. 67. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Beck absent for the vote.

Rep. Wimmer explained the substitute bill to the committee, assisted by Mike Lee, attorney.

MOTION:    Rep. Daw moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Beck absent for the vote.
