Rep. Kiser called the meeting to order at 9:21 a.m.
MOTION: Rep. Allen moved to approve the minutes of the February 16, 2010 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Seelig absent for the vote.
H.B. 316 Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption Amendments (Rep. G. Hughes)
Rep. Hughes explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Darin Farr, Utah Department of Veteran's Affairs, Eric McGinnis, Disabled American Veterans, and Berni Davis, Utah Department of Veteran's Affairs.
Spoke in favor of the bill: Greg Rowley, The American Legion
MOTION: Rep. Johnson moved to amend the bill as follows:
1. Page 4, Lines 116 through 120 :
116 (h) For purposes of this section and Section 59-2-1105 , a person who is honorably
117 discharged from military service of the United States or the state:
118 (i) is presumed to be a citizen of the United States; and
119 (ii)

not be required to provide additional proof of citizenship
to establish that the
120 veteran is a citizen of the United States.
The motion to amend H.B. 316 passed unanimously with Rep. Allen and Rep. Vickers absent for the vote.
MOTION: Rep. Cosgrove moved to pass H.B. 316 as amended with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Allen and Rep. Vickers absent for the vote.
MOTION: Rep. Harper moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Allen and Rep. Vickers absent for the vote.
Rep. Kiser adjourned the meeting at 9:57 a.m.
