Chair Bramble called the meeting to order at 4:28 P.M.

MOTION: Sen. Dayton moved to approve the minutes of the February 26, 2010 meeting.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stephenson absent for the vote.

1.         H.C.R. 12 -- Printing and Graphic Arts Recognition Month Concurrent Resolution

        Rep. Daw introduced and explained the resolution.

        Dann W. Hone, Chair, Crandall Historical Printing Museum and Ryan Ashworth, Board Member, Printing Industries of Utah, spoke in favor of the resolution.

        


         MOTION: Sen. Morgan moved to pass H.C.R. 12 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

        The motion passed unanimously.

         MOTION: Sen. Dayton moved to place H.C.R. 12 on the Consent Calendar.

        The motion passed unanimously.

2.        1st Sub. H.B. 227 -- Licensing Eligibility

         MOTION: Sen. Dayton moved to adopt the following amendments:

1.    Page 2, Lines 53 through 53d
    House Floor Amendments
    2-24-2010 :
    

             53      United States.
             53a      H. (ii)
{   If the applicant is a business entity with officers, directors, or partners who reside

             53b      within the United States, then the affidavit referred to in Subsection (2)(c)(i) shall also attest
             53c      that those officers, directors, or partners who reside within the United States are either United
             53d      States citizens or lawfully present in the United States. .H  
}
  Subsection (2)(c)(i) does not apply to:

    (A) an applicant that is a business entity licensed or regulated by a state or federal agency located within the United States;or
    (B) the business entity applicant's officers, directors, or partners.

        Ronald Mortensen, Utah Coalition on Illegal Immigration; Robert Wren, UFIRE; and Jay Nelson, Civil Engineer; spoke in favor of the bill.

        Lincoln Shurtz, Utah League of Cities and Towns; Stan Rasmussen, Public Affairs Manager, Sutherland Institute; Juan M. Ruiz, President, Latin American Chamber of Commerce; Christobal Marquez, Artistic Director, Salt Lake City Ballet; and Silvia Haro, Co-Chair, UHLLTF/Utah Hispanic Republicans; spoke in opposition to the bill.
    
MOTION: Sen. Dayton moved to adjourn.

        The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stephenson absent for the vote.

Chair Bramble adjourned the meeting at 5:16 P.M.
