Committee Chair Adams called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m.

Approval of Minutes

    MOTION: Sen Romero moved to approve the minutes of February 8, 2010.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Stephenson and Stowell absent for the vote.

1.     S.B. 135 Sales and Use Tax Exemption for an Energy Efficient Stove or Energy Efficient Fuel (G. Davis)

    Sen. Davis explained the bill and the following amendment was distributed:


1.    Page 69, Lines 2116 through 2118 :    

             2116          (69) purchases of:
             2117          (a) an energy efficient stove; or
             2118          (b) energy efficient stove fuel
  for use as fuel for an energy efficient stove       .


    


    MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to adopt the amendment.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stowell absent for the vote.

    
Sen. Bramble declared a conflict of interest.

    Brian Getzelman, CEO, Arbor Pellet LLC, clarified and spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to transmit S.B. 135 as amended with a favorable          recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Romero moved that S.B. 135 be placed on the consent calendar.

    Following a committee discussion the motion was withdrawn.

2.    H.B. 213 Cigarette Tax Exemption Amendments (E. Vickers)

    
Rep. Vickers explained the bill.
    
    Bruce Johnson, Commissioner, Utah Tax Commission, spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Stowell moved to transmit H.B. 213 with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved that the bill be placed on the consent calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    Sen. Adams adjourned the meeting at 9:28 a.m.
