Rep. Bird called the meeting to order at 2:08 p.m.


MOTION:     Rep. Menlove moved to approve the minutes of the February 8, 2011 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Peterson absent for the vote.

H.B. 99    Motion Picture Incentives Amendments (Rep. G. Hughes)

MOTION:    Rep. Bird moved to replace H.B. 99 with 1st Substitute H.B. 99. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Peterson absent for the vote.

Rep. Hughes explained the bill to the committee assisted by Spencer Eccles, Executive Director, Governor's Office of Economic Development. Matthew Piccolo, Sutherland Institute, and Jay Blain, Utah Education Association, spoke against the bill. Bob Carter, Motion Picture Association of Utah, and David Hunter, Halestorm Entertainment, spoke in favor of the bill.

MOTION:    Rep. Peterson moved to transmit 1st Substitute H.B. 99 with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.

H.B. 107    Volunteer Firefighters' Retirement Amendments (Rep. R. Menlove)

MOTION:    Rep. Sanpei moved to amend H.B. 107 as follows:

1.    Page 2, Line 32 :    

             32          (1) (a) In accordance with this section there shall be paid
  to the office       :


2.    Page 2, Line 51 :    



             51          (c) any remaining amount in accordance with Section 49-11-902 .
 

    (3) (a) In accordance with rules made by the office, a participating employer shall provide the office with information on each person who is actively serving the participating employer as a volunteer firefighter in order for the person to be eligible for long-term disability coverage under this section.
     (b) A participating employer shall provide to the office:
     (i) the information under Subsection (3)(a), not later than July 1, 2011; and
     (ii) updates to the information as changes occur.

 

The motion passed unanimously.

Rep. Menlove explained the bill to the committee assisted by Brent Halladay, Utah State Fire Marshall.

MOTION:    Rep. Sanpei moved to transmit H.B. 107 with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Rep. Peterson moved to place H.B. 107 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.    

Rep. Peterson moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.

Rep. Bird adjourned the meeting at 3:24 p.m.
