    Chair H. Stephenson called the meeting to order at 9:02 A.M.

     MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to approve the minutes of the February 3, 2011 meeting.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. J. Stevenson absent for the vote.


1.         S.B. 63 - K-3 Reading Improvement Program Accountability
        
        
Dr. Shumway and Dr. Park spoke to the bill.

        Dr. Park provided a link to a report from the USOE regarding student proficiency in English Language Arts on certain assessments:

        Ms. Gallagher-Fishbaugh, Dr. Harrington, Ms. Krebs, and Ms. Donavax spoke in favor of the bill.

         MOTION: Sen. Thatcher moved to pass S.B. 63 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

        The motion passed unanimously with Sen. J. Stevenson absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Thatcher moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. J. Stevenson absent for the vote.

    Chair H. Stephenson adjourned the meeting at 10:02 A.M.
