Chair Stephenson called the meeting to order at 2:25 p.m.

MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to approve the minutes of the February 10, 2011 meeting.

The motion passed unanimously.

1.     S.C.R. 11 - Dixie State College Concurrent Resolution

    
Sen. Urquhart introduced and explained the bill.
    
    Mr. Lojko spoke in favor of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Morgan moved to pass S.C.R. 11 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sens. Thatcher, Morgan, J. Stevenson, and H. Stephenson voting in favor, and Sen. Hillyard voting in opposition of the motion.

2.     S.B. 67 - Annual Eye Examination for Children in Grades Kindergarten Through Three

     MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to substitute S.B. 67 with 1st Sub. S.B. 67.


    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to adopt the following amendment:

2.    Page 1, Lines 17 through 18 :    

             17          .    provides limited immunity to
  volunteer       vision screeners who are trained or supervised by the

             18      State Office of Education;

2.    Page 3, Lines 58 through 60 :    

             58          (b) A
  volunteer       vision screener providing services under Subsection (6)(a) is not liable for any

             59      civil damages as a result of acts or omissions related to the vision screening unless the acts or
             60      omissions were willful or grossly negligent.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    Mr. Ostermiller spoke in favor of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Morgan moved to pass 1st Sub. S.B. 67 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.
    
MOTION: Sen. Morgan moved to adjourn.

The motion passed unanimously.

Chair Stephenson adjourned the meeting at 3:15 p.m.
