Committee Chair Okerlund called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.



1.     H.B. 25, Mineral and Petroleum Literacy (Rep. J. Draxler) (Sen. M. Dayton)
    
    Rep. Jack R. Draxler introduced the bill. John Baza, Director, Division of Oil, Gas and     Mining; and Steve Schneider, Administrator Coordinator, Division of Oil, Gas and Mining,     assisted in the presentation.

    A visual Presentation was shown.

    Lee Peacock, President, Utah Petroleum Association; Todd Bingham, President, Utah     Mining Association; and Sen. Ralph Okerlund, spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to pass H.B. 25, Mineral and Petroleum Literacy, out favorably.


    The motion passed unanimously.

2.     H.B. 39,Water Rights Amendments (Rep. J. Draxler) (Sen. R. Okerlund)
    
    Rep. Jack R. Draxler introduced the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to amend HB 39 as follows:

1.    Page 2, Line 52

             52          (7) Every assignment of an application [which shall not be] that is not
[[   recorded   ]]        filed       as

2.    Page 2, Line 55

             55      the subsequent assignee's own assignment [shall be] is first duly
[[   recorded   ]]        filed       .


    The motion passed unanimously.


     MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to pass H.B. 39, out favorably, as amended.

    The motion passed unanimously.


3.     S.C.R. 3, Concurrent Resolution Supporting Continued Federal Funding of the Central     Utah Project (Sen. R. Okerlund)

    
Sen. Dayton assumed the committee chair.

    Sen. Okerlund introduced the bill.

    Chris Finlinson, Government Affairs Director, Central Utah Water, spoke in support of the     bill.

    
    MOTION:
Sen. Okerlund moved to pass S.C.R. 3, Concurrent Resolution Supporting     Continued Federal Funding of the Central Utah Project , out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    
    Chair Okerlund assumed the committee chair.

    


    Chair Okerlund informed those present that, S.B. 108 Joint Use of Water Infrastructure,     would not be heard today.

    


     MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    Chair Okerlund adjourned the meeting at 2:55p.m.
