7 LONG TITLE
8 General Description:
9 This bill modifies the Motor Vehicles Code by amending provisions relating to vintage
10 vehicles.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . defines a vintage travel trailer;
14 . amends the definition of a vintage vehicle to include a vintage travel trailer; and
15 . makes technical changes.
16 Money Appropriated in this Bill:

18 Other Special Clauses:
19 This bill takes effect on July 1, 2012.

25 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
26 Section 1. Section 41-1a-226 is amended to read:
27 41-1a-226. Vintage vehicle -- Signed statement -- Registration certificate.
28 (1) The owner of a vintage vehicle applying for registration under this part shall
29 provide a signed statement certifying that the vintage vehicle:

30 (a) is owned and operated for the purposes enumerated in Section 41-21-1 ; and [that
31 the vintage vehicle]
32 (b) has been inspected and found safe to operate on the highways of this state.
33 (2) A vintage travel trailer, as defined in Section 41-21-1 , is exempt from the
34 requirement under Subsection (1)(b).
35 Section 2. Section 41-21-1 is amended to read:
36 41-21-1. Street rod, vintage vehicle, and vintage travel trailer defined.
37 (1) (a) "Street rod" means a motor vehicle that:
38 (i) (A) was manufactured in 1948 or before; or
39 (B) (I) was manufactured after 1948 to resemble a vehicle that was manufactured in
40 1948 or before; and
41 (II) (Aa) has been altered from the manufacturer's original design; or
42 (Bb) has a body constructed from non-original materials; and
43 (ii) is primarily a collector's item that is used for:
44 (A) club activities;
45 (B) exhibitions;
46 (C) tours;
47 (D) parades;
48 (E) occasional transportation; and
49 (F) other similar uses.
50 (b) "Street rod" does not include a motor vehicle that is used for general, daily
51 transportation.
52 (2) (a) "Vintage travel trailer" means a travel trailer, camping trailer, or fifth wheel
53 trailer that is:
54 (i) 30 years old or older, from the current year; and
55 (ii) primarily a collector's item that is used for:
56 (A) participation in club activities;
57 (B) exhibitions;

58 (C) tours;
59 (D) parades;
60 (E) occasional recreational or vacation use; and
61 (F) other similar uses.
62 (b) "Vintage travel trailer" does not include a travel trailer, camping trailer, or fifth
63 wheel trailer that is used for the general, daily transportation of persons or property.
64 [(2)] (3) (a) "Vintage vehicle" means a motor vehicle that:
65 (i) is 30 years old or older[,] from the current year[,];
66 (ii) displays a unique vehicle type special group license plate issued in accordance with
67 Section 41-1a-418 ; and
68 (iii) is primarily a collector's item[, and] that is used for:
69 (A) participation in club activities[,];
70 (B) exhibitions[,];
71 (C) tours[,];
72 (D) parades[,];
73 (E) occasional transportation[,]; and
74 (F) other similar uses[, but that is not used for general daily transportation].
75 (b) "Vintage vehicle" does not include a motor vehicle that is used for general, daily
76 transportation.
77 [(b)] (c) "Vintage vehicle" includes a:
78 (i) street rod[.]; and
79 (ii) vintage travel trailer.
80 Section 3. Effective date.
81 This bill takes effect on July 1, 2012.
