Chair Knudson called the meeting to order at 4:07 p.m.

Approval of Minutes

MOTION:    
Sen. Jenkins moved to approve the minutes of February 27, 2012 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Sen.Thatcher and Sen. Dayton absent for the vote.
H.B. 118    Storage of Electronic Records (Rep. B. Daw) (Sen. S. Urquhart)

Rep. Daw presented and explained the bill.        

MOTION:
    Sen. Dayton moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:
Sen. Dayton moved to put on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed          unanimously.

H.B. 265    Public Employee's Long-term Disability Act Amendments (Rep. B. King) (Sen. K. Mayne)

Rep. King presented and explained the bill.

MOTION:
    Sen.Thatcher moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

S.J.R. 24    Joint Rules Resolution on Legislator Orientation (Sen. R. Romero)

Sen. Romero requested the following amendment:

Page 2, Line 31:    After the word "gender" insert "sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin"



Spoke in favor of the amendment:        Brandie Balken, Executive Director, Equality Utah

MOTION:    Sen. Robles moved to amend the bill. The motion failed with Sen. Knudson, Sen. Anderson, Sen. Dayton, Sen. Jenkins and Sen. Thatcher voting in opposition.

Sen. Romero presented and explained the bill.

Spoke in favor of the bill:        Ms. Hande Togrul, Adult Program Director,
                    Inclusion Center
                    Ms. Emm Yaxte, Youth Program Director, Inclusion Center

MOTION: Sen. Robles moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion failed with Sen.         Knudson, Sen. Dayton, Sen. Jenkins and Sen. Thatcher voting in opposition.

MOTION:    Sen. Anderson moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. Chair Knudson adjourned the meeting at 4:50 p.m.
