Acting Chair Romero called the meeting to order at 2:10 p.m.

MOTION:    Sen. Hillyard moved to approve the minutes of the February 6, 2012 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Madsen, Sen. Uquhart and Sen. Weiler absent for the vote.
    
S.B. 168    Uniform Disposition of Community Property Rights At Death Act (Sen. L. Hillyard)

Sen. Hillyard introduced and explained the bill.

Spoke for the bill:    Robert S. Tippet, Member, Ad Hoc State Bar Committee

MOTION:    Sen. Hillyard moved to pass S.B. 168 out favorably. The motion passed with Sen. Madsen and Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Sen. Hillyard moved to place S.B. 168 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed with Sen. Madsen and Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.

S.B. 55    Amendments to Adoption Code (Sen. T. Weiler)
    
MOTION:    Sen. Weiler moved to replace S.B. 55 with 1st Sub. S.B. 55. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard, Sen. Madsen and Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.

Sen. Romero relinquished the chair to Sen. Madsen.

S.B. 169    Judicial Conduct Commission Amendments (Sen. K. Mayne)


Sen. Mayne introduced and explained the bill.

MOTION:    Sen. Romero moved to replace S.B. 169 with 1st Sub. S.B.169. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Sen. Romero moved to pass 1st Sub. S.B. 169 out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

S.B. 171    Jail Reimbursement Funding Amendments (Sen. J. Valentine)

Sen. Valentine introduced and explained the bill.

        Kerry Gibson, Weber County Commissioner, Utah Association of Counties
        Larry Ellerson, Commissioner, Utah County

MOTION:    Sen. Romero moved to pass S.B. 171 out favorably.

SUBSTITUTE MOTION:    Sen. Weiler moved to go to the next item on the agenda. The motion passed with Sen. Hillyard and Pres. Waddoups voting in opposition, and Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.

Sen. Madsen relinquished the chair to Sen. Romero

S.B. 249    Firearm Possession Amendments (Sen. M. Madsen)


Spoke for the bill:    Clark Aposhian, Chairman, Utah Shooting Sports Council

MOTION:    Sen. Hillyard moved to pass S.B. 249 out favorably. The motion passed with Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.



MOTION:    Sen. Hillyard moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously, with Sen. Urqhart absent for the vote.
