         JOINT RESOLUTION ON ENGAGEMENT IN PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM

Senate Floor Amendments

Senator Mark B. Madsen proposes the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Lines 13 through 14 :    

             13          .    expresses a legislative desire to improve collaboration between the Legislature

             14      the State Board of Education
  , and teachers in the public schools of the state       ;


2.    Page 1, Line 17 :    

             17      seven days;

  . encourages public education teachers to read an online fact sheet and take a test on information contained in the fact sheet;      


3.    Page 1, Line 20 :

  and where the fact sheet and test results can be maintained       .


4.    Page 1, Line 26 :    

             26      Board of Education each play an important role with respect to the public education system;
    
  WHEREAS, teachers in the public schools of the state also play an important role with respect to the public education system;      


5.    Page 2, Line 30 :    

             30      the stated goal of
{   both   } the members of the Legislature      {   and   }        ,       the State Board of Education        , and the public school teachers of the state       ;      {   and   }


6.    Page 2, Line 32 :

  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature encourages teachers in the public schools of the state to participate, on a rotating basis at the rate of about 2% per month, in an online activity consisting of reading a fact sheet relating to commonly misunderstood aspects of public education, developed by or under the direction of the Legislative Management Committee, and then answering a set of questions testing knowledge gained from information in that fact sheet.
