             9      General Description:
             10          This bill modifies Title 76, Chapter 7, Offenses Against the Family.
             11      Highlighted Provisions:
             12          This bill:
             13          .    requires the Department of Health to prepare an annual report for the Health and
             14      Human Services Interim Committee, including information on:
             15              .    the number of abortions performed in the state;
             16              .    the reported reason, if any, why the patient sought the abortion; and
             17              .    at what stage of pregnancy the abortions took place;
             18              .    the race and ethnicity of the women on whom the abortions were performed;
             19      and
             20          .    makes technical changes.

             29      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:


             30          Section 1. Section 76-7-305.7 is amended to read:
             31           76-7-305.7. Statistical report by the Department of Health.
             32          (1) In accordance with Subsection (2), the Department of Health shall, on an annual
             33      basis, after [July 1] December 31 of each year, compile and report the following information,
             34      relating to the preceding [fiscal] calendar year, to the Health and Human Services Interim
             35      Committee:
             36          (a) the total number of abortions that were performed in the state;
             37          (b) the reported reasons, if any, the women sought the abortions described in
             38      Subjection (1)(a);
             39          (c) the stage of pregnancy in which the abortions described in Subsection (1)(a) were
             40      performed, including:
             41          (i) the trimester; and
             42          (ii) estimated week of pregnancy;
             43          (d) the races and ethnicities of the women who obtained the abortions described in
             44      Subsection (1)(a), including:
             45          (i) Alaska Native;
             46          (ii) American Indian;
             47          (iii) Asian;
             48          (iv) Black or African American;
             49          (v) Hispanic or Latino;
             50          (vi) Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander;
             51          (vii) White, not Hispanic or Latino; and
             52          (viii) some other race;
             53          [(a)] (e) the total amount of informed consent material described in this section that
             54      was distributed or accessed;
             55          [(b)] (f) the number of women who obtained abortions in this state without receiving
             56      the informed consent materials described in this section;
             57          [(c)] (g) the number of statements signed by attending physicians under Subsection


             58      76-7-305.6 (4); and
             59          [(d)] (h) any other information pertaining to obtaining informed consent from a woman
             60      who seeks an abortion.
             61          (2) The report described in Subsection (1) shall be prepared and presented in a manner
             62      that preserves physician and patient anonymity.
