             8      General Description:
             9          This bill creates the Statewide Education Coordinating Committee.

             22      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             23          Section 1. Section 63M-1-3401 is enacted to read:
             24     
Part 34. Statewide Education Coordinating Committee

             25          63M-1-3401. Title.
             26          This part is known as "Statewide Education Coordinating Committee."
             27          Section 2. Section 63M-1-3402 is enacted to read:


             28          63M-1-3402. Statewide Education Coordinating Committee -- Purpose --
             29      Members.
             30          (1) (a) There is created the Statewide Education Coordinating Committee.
             31          (b) The Statewide Education Coordinating Committee shall meet at least two times a
             32      year for coordinating purposes.
             33          (2) The Statewide Education Coordinating Committee shall consist of the following
             34      members:
             35          (a) the speaker of the House of Representatives or the speaker's designee;
             36          (b) the president of the Senate or the president's designee;
             37          (c) the governor;
             38          (d) the governor's education advisor;
             39          (e) the chair of the State Board of Education;
             40          (f) the superintendent of public instruction;
             41          (g) the chair of the Board of Regents;
             42          (h) the commissioner of higher education;
             43          (i) the chair of the Utah College of Applied Technology Board of Trustees; and
             44          (j) the president of the Utah College of Applied Technology.
             45          (3) (a) The governor shall serve as the Statewide Education Coordinating Committee
             46      chair.
             47          (b) The Statewide Education Coordinating Committee shall meet at the call of the
             48      chair.
             49          (4) A member of the Statewide Education Coordinating Committee shall receive no
             50      compensation for the member's service on the committee.
             51          (5) The governor's office shall staff the Statewide Education Coordinating Committee.
