This legislation provides for an expedited adoption process and extends the age when adopted children and their adoptive parents may receive support and counseling to 21. The fiscal impact is estimated at $698,900 in FY 1998 and $758,900 in FY 1999. This provides for 11 new caseworkers to handle the expedited process plus two additional staff to provide the training of potential adoptive parents as required by the bill.
