Passage of this bill will require an appropriation of $1,508,000 from the Uniform School Fund for FY 1998. Required appropriations in subsequent years could be higher depending upon the established state average cost per mile for transportation and the number of qualifying miles submitted by a qualified school district. The increase in the maximum rate of the optional Special Transportation Levy could increase revenues to local school districts.
