[Status][Bill Text] [Back to the Bills Directory] [Back to the Fiscal Note Directory]
This bill would allow three districts to petition for division: Davis, Jordan, and Granite. For each new district the Legislature would need to appropriate 16 Weighted Pupil Units (WPUs) for administration. However, no district would be able to divide until after the 1998 general election. Therefore, no state costs would be incurred until the FY 2000 budget. The new districts, if created, would have considerable costs to start up and for their administration. However, those costs would come out of the revenue the district generated from the Minimum School Program and local revenue. Election costs would also be incurred at the local level.
