This bill creates the Capitol Preservation Board and the State Capitol Fund. The Board will assume all responsibilities relative to the Capitol Building and certain surrounding grounds currently being managed by the Division of Facilities Construction and Management (DFCM). Assumming the current appropriations to DFCM ($2,149,700 General Funds and $303,200 Dedicated Credits), together with any capital improvement funds appropriated for the Capitol Building in FY 1999 are transferred to the Board, there will be no additional fiscal impact created by this bill. This also assumes the Board's budgets will be developed within this funding level and that expenses related to the Executive Director and support staff come from these funding sources. The estimated cost for the Executive Director is $57,200 annually, with annual meeting costs estimated at $3,600.
