Revenue from petitions and renewals is estimated at $46,000 in General Funds per year. One-time cost to set up the data processing system to track such orders is estimated at $20,000. Ongoing cost to maintain the records and notification system are estimated at $33,500. Additional trials/hearings because of the upgrade to a Class A misdemeanor will cost an additional $56,000 in General Funds. Requirements for law enforcement notification cannot be estimated at this time. There will also be savings to local courts due to caseload reduction (Class A misdemeanors move to the District Court).
