This bill will probably result in more convictions for the crime of theft. Cost to the courts for additional hearings and trials would be $14,600. More convictions at the felony level would result in additional and longer prison terms, which would add an estimated $80,000 in costs to Corrections for the first year and $130,000 in subsequent years.
