Passage of this bill would transfer the existing elections base of $751,500 into the newly created Elections Commission. Approximately $500,000 of the transfer would pass through to local governments. An additional $100,000 of the transfer would be utilized for publications costs associated with the motor voter program. New costs for legal and technical staff support, and additional resources such as office equipment necessary to set up the office in the amount of $115,000 would need to be appropriated. The estimated amount assumes that existing elections office space at the Capitol would be able to be utilized for the Elections Commission.
