Passage of this bill would allow a tax credit for education costs incurred in sending a student to a private school. For every credit allowed by the school board there would be a corresponding decrease in the appropriation made to public education equivalent to the value of the credit or the weighted pupil unit. Therefore, the effect of the bill should be revenue neutral. The Tax Commission would require an appropriation of $50,000 to implement the provisions of the bill.
