AMENDED NOTE
It is estimated that there will be 25 or more additional cases per year that the State's Risk Management Agency will investigate as a result of this legislation. The cost of the investigations and defense of the employee (if it is found the State is not immune) is estimated at $500,000 annually. This cost will be borne by the Risk Management Pool Fund in FY 2001. It is anticipated that premium increases will be recommended for FY 2002 to replace these funds and cover future expenses. This increase will be borne about 55 percent by the Department of Human Services and 45 percent by other State agencies. Approximately half of this increase will be paid with General Fund appropriations.
