It is estimated that the Divisions of Child & Family Services and Youth Corrections will see a reduction of $137,100 in collections from parents with children in state custody from reducing the number of months the Office of Recovery Services can collect on arrears. However, it should be noted that some parents might be more inclined to make current payments if they do not have an initial large arrears payment. The bill could produce efficiencies in the division, which, combined with increased parent participation in child support payments, in time, could result in savings and increased collections above indicated revenue losses.
