7 LONG TITLE
8 General Description:
9 This bill modifies provisions of the Concealed Weapons Act by creating a dedicated
10 credit as a revenue stream to cover the costs incurred by the Criminal Investigations and
11 Technical Services Division of the Department of Public Safety in issuing concealed
12 weapons permits.
13 Highlighted Provisions:
14 This bill:
15 . allows the Criminal Investigations and Technical Services Division to use fees
16 collected for the issuance, renewal, and replacement of concealed weapons permits
17 as a dedicated credit to cover the costs of issuing, renewing, and replacing those
18 permits; and
19 . makes certain technical changes.

28 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
29 Section 1. Section 53-5-707 is amended to read:
30 53-5-707. Permit -- Fees -- Disposition.
31 (1) (a) Each applicant for a permit shall pay a fee of $35 at the time of filing an
32 application.
33 (b) The initial fee shall be waived for an applicant who is a law enforcement officer
34 under Section 53-13-103 .
35 (2) The renewal fee for the permit is $10.
36 (3) The replacement fee for the permit is $10.
37 (4) The late fee for the renewal permit is $7.50.

40 (5) The division may use the fees collected under Subsections (1), (2), (3), and (4) as a
41 dedicated credit to cover the costs of issuing concealed weapons permits under this part.
42 (6) (a) The division may collect any fees charged by an outside agency for additional
43 services required by statute as a prerequisite for issuance of a permit.
44 (b) The division shall promptly forward any fees collected under Subsection (6)(a) to
45 the appropriate agency.
46 (7) The division shall make an annual report to the Legislature's Law Enforcement and
47 Criminal Justice Interim Committee on the amount and use of the fees collected under this
48 section.
