H.B. 514, Public and Higher Education Technology Amendments, from the 2012 General Session directed the State Board of Education, Salt Lake Community College, and the Utah College of Applied Technology to provide for an educational program on the use of information technology. The Microsoft IT Academy and Microsoft Office Specialists (MOS) certifications are resources that were purchased by USOE as a sole purpose license to fulfill the purpose of the bill.
The following appropriation adjustments were made during the 2015 General Session:
UCA 53A-13-111: Requires the State Board of Education to provide for an educational program on the use of information technology.
UCA 53B-2a-114: Requires the Utah College of Applied Technology to offer an educational program on the use of information technology.
UCA 53B-16-211: Requires the Salt Lake Community College to offer an educational program on the use of information technology.
