FY 2016 Appropriation

Prostart is a two-year nationwide program that develops students into restaurant and foodservice leaders. While attending high-school, Utah students can:

  • learn the basics of food service industry;
  • learn from a specially designed curriculum that emphasizes real-work experiences; and
  • travel to a job-site where they can be given opportunities to practice what they have learned.

Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $653,100 from all sources for ProStart Culinary Arts Program. This is an 85 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources. The total includes $653,100 from the General/Education Funds, an increase of 85 percent from revised Fiscal Year 2015 estimates.
