1st Sub. H.B. 195 Auricular Detoxification Amendments
(Harrison, S.)
Rep. Suzanne Harrison presented the bill with the assistance of Chris Rogers, licensed acupuncturist; Adam Cohen, CEO, Odyssey House; and Stephen Moore, patient advocate, Odyssey House. Rep. Harrison indicated that the Utah Medical Association is neutral on the bill, the Utah Academy of Family Physicians supports the bill, and the Utah Society of Addiction Medicine supports the bill.

Maryann Martindale, Utah Academy of Family Physicians, spoke in favor of the bill.
Dr. Beth Howell, addiction medicine and addiction psychiatry specialist, spoke in favor of the bill.
Dr. Amy de la Garza, a physician who has provided National Acupuncture Detoxification Association protocol treatments at Odyssey House, spoke in favor of the bill.
Sen. Iwamoto moved to pass 1st Substitute H.B. 195 out favorably.
Sen. Wilson assumed the chair.
