FY 2016 Appropriation

The Tooele Applied Technology College (TATC) serves Tooele County from its new main campus building in Tooele. TATC generated 126,677 membership hours in FY 2014, with 94 percent from post-secondary students and six percent from secondary students. Its service region includes one school district. It offers business, health care, information technology, manufacturing, service, and transportation programs.

TATC opened its doors July 1, 2009, and has established the programs most requested by employers in Tooele County. The campus began operations in its new 74,000 sq. foot facility in June 2013. Education and training opportunities are coordinated and supported by the Tooele County Alliance for Education, Employment and Economic Development. The Alliance consists of leaders from all levels of education, business, community, workforce agencies and government.

Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $3,261,100 from all sources for Tooele ATC. This is a 2 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources. The total includes $3,065,100 from the General/Education Funds, an increase of 2.1 percent from revised Fiscal Year 2015 estimates.

Tooele Applied Technology College (TATC) is the newest campus of the Utah College of Applied Technology (UCAT). TATC serves high school students, adults, and businesses in Tooele County, including Dugway, Grantsville, Stansbury Park, Tooele, and Wendover.

The Legislature intends that the Tooele Applied Technology College provide year-end performance data for certificate-seeking, occupational upgrade, other post-secondary, and secondary students detailing the number and percentage of: (1) completers (graduate and non-graduate/early-hire completers, where applicable); (2) non- completers; and (3) those who are still enrolled at the end of the fiscal year. The Legislature further intends that the Tooele Applied Technology College provide average cost per membership hour, average cost per certificate awarded, and average cost per occupational upgrade awarded.

The Legislature intends that any equity funding approved for campuses at the Utah College of Applied Technology not be allocated for any non-state funded operations and maintenance (O&M) projects or facilities.
