FY 2016 Appropriation

The Division of Public Utilities hires expert witnesses to perform special studies and appear in rate cases before the Public Service Commission. These funds have traditionally been non-lapsing and have been appropriated in a separate line item.

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $350,000 from all sources for Public Utilities Professional and Technical Services. This is a 16.7 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources.

HB0003: Item 69

Under Section 63J-1-603 of the Utah Code, the Legislature intends that appropriations provided for the Division of Public Utilities Technical Services Fund in Item 24 of Chapter 10, Laws of Utah 2014, shall not lapse at the close of Fiscal Year 2015.


Funding for Public Utilities Professional and Technical Services is used mainly for contracted support related to cases appearing before the Public Service Commission.
