FY 2016 Appropriation

This fund was established to account for federal funds that support various state and county efforts to improve and reform voting processes and equipment throughout the State, such that voting is accessible to as many Utahns as possible.

Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $596,000 from all sources for State Elections Grant Fund. This is a 0 percent change from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources.

This fund is created administratively to account for federal funds received per federal statute. Funds must be used for specific Help America Vote Act allowable activities. The Federal Government requires that funds be placed in an interest bearing account. The federal law authorizing the program outlines a requirement for an annual report to the administering agency and program. In addition, the state is subject to being audited at the will of the administering federal official.
