The Department of Health suffered a data breach in April 2012. The data breach affected approximately 780,000 individuals. About 280,000 individuals had their social security number and/or other sensitive information stolen. The funding provides a second year of free credit monitoring services for the approximately 60,000 individuals who have signed up among those who had sensitive information stolen.
During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $0 from all sources for Credit Monitoring. This is a 0 percent change from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources.
