FY 2016 Appropriation

This program provides funding to facilitate intergovernmental relations between Utah and its federal partners. The funding is used to communicate Utah's needs with federal executive and legislative branches in Washington D.C. The main purpose is to reduce unfunded mandates and federal preemption on the state.

Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $165,000 from all sources for Washington Funding. This is a 2.4 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources. The total includes $165,000 from the General/Education Funds, an increase of 2.4 percent from revised Fiscal Year 2015 estimates.

Under section 63J-1-603 of the Utah Code, the Legislature intends that appropriations provided to the Governor's Office in Item 13, Chapter 14, Laws of Utah 2014 not lapse at the close of Fiscal Year 2015.


General Fund appropriations to this program fund a percentage of a full-time equivalent position and the travel to Washington D.C. for the position. Closing nonlapsing balances are retained in the Governor's Office line item.
