There are six auction markets held throughout the state. A veterinarian inspects all animals that pass through the market.

Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $72,000 from all sources for Auction Market Veterinarians. This is a 20.4 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources. The total includes $0 from the General/Education Funds, a reduction of 100 percent from revised Fiscal Year 2015 estimates.

The 2013 Legislature removed the Auction Market Veterinarians Program from the Administration line item and included it in the Animal Health line item.

HB0003: Item 122

Under the terms of 63J-1-603 of the Utah Code, the Legislature intends that appropriations provided for the General Administration line item in Item 27, Chapter 5, Laws of Utah 2014, shall not lapse at the close of FY 2015. Expenditures of these funds are limited to: Employee Training/Incentives $75,000; Special Projects/Studies $225,000.
